  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko bread crumbs, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place on a lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Bake meatballs for about 20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. While baking, heat marinara sauce in a skillet over medium heat until bubbly.
  6. Assemble subs by placing meatballs in buns, topping with marinara and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Return assembled subs to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
