  • 1 lb beef sausage
  • 1 shredded zucchini (about 1 cup)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp dried minced onion
  • 2 tsp dried minced garlic
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, sausage, zucchini, egg, onion, garlic, basil, and salt until combined. Form into about 24 meatballs.
  3. Place meatballs in the casserole dish and bake for 30 minutes until cooked through (internal temperature should reach at least 165°F/74°C). Drain excess liquid.
  4. Pour marinara sauce over meatballs and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. For extra flavor, broil for an additional 3-4 minutes if desired.
