Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  3. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Scoop dough into balls and place on prepared sheets, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers look slightly underbaked. Allow cooling on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, salt, and milk until smooth. Spoon over cooled cookies and let set.
